It's not easy trying to find that "perfect"
recreational vehicle (RV). Selecting from the various
styles, types, sizes, prices, choosing floor plans and
features and picking the right accessories can be an
intimidating experience. RVs are defined by the federal
government as "vehicles designed for providing lodging and
meals while enjoying the outdoors." They can be a luxurious
$500,000 motor home, a fifth-wheel trailer, a traditional
towed trailer, a van camper, a pickup camper or a tent
trailer.
No matter which you choose, they all allow family vacations
to be more relaxing and enjoyable by providing comfort,
control and convenience. The secret to finding the proper RV
is to first determine your personal interests and desires,
then find the RV
that most closely satisfies your needs. Consider your
interests. Do you have a passion for fly-fishing? Are you an
avid bird watcher? Do you enjoy long, leisurely sight-seeing
trips? Are you an addicted ski bum?
Basically answer the questions: where will you be going in
your RV? and what will you be doing when you get there? A
family of five who wants an RV for family camping trips to
the mountains will need a much different type and size
vehicle than a retired couple who plan to travel for
extended periods of time and stay in well-maintained RV
parks.
Next, consider your needs. You'll need adequate space for
sleeping, eating and storage for the usual number of
occupants. This is also the time to determine if you will
need additional storage for those large recreational
items--skis, canoes, motorcycles, four-wheelers, etc. Don't
overlook any options. Air conditioning may be an unnecessary
expense for some but a crucial essential for others.
Take your time. Do
some research and explore the options. The proper RV for you
and your family is out there. Enjoy the journey! And that
journey can start right here with thousands of tips and
advice about RV travel, valuable resources and helpful
information about all aspects of the RV lifestyle. |
